The Case Type Explorer gives you a centralized view of all case types in your application. Use it to manage your case types, access Case Designer, and browse examples of case types that you can extend in your application.
To open the Case Type Explorer, click the Cases icon in the explorer panel of Designer Studio.
Case types are displayed in the Case Type Explorer in a tree format that illustrates parent-child relationships. Root nodes in the tree represent top-level case types. Descendant nodes represent child case types.
Nodes in the tree are populated by:
Case types listed on the Cases & data tab of your Application form.
This list is updated each time that you create a case type.
Case types that belong to a class group in your application.
These are denoted by (Work Pool) in the node label.
Descendants of the Work- class that are covered by existing case types in your application.
These work classes are typically found in legacy applications and have limited functionality. As a best practice, refactor these to inherit from Work-Cover- or rebuild them as child case types using the case type wizard.
You can have any number of top-level and child case types in your application. Not every top-level case type has child case types.
The actions you can take in the Case Type Explorer are organized into menu options. You can access these menus by hovering over a node in the tree. Common actions include:
Adding a new case type.
Opening a case type in Case Designer.
Launching the Case Management Gallery.
Importing case types from another system.
